Baking Soda

Baking soda is also known as "Kaiser Natron," "Bullrich's Salz," or "bicarbonate of soda." Internally, it is traditionally used in natural medicine for deacidification, for example, for fatigue, heartburn, or muscle cramps. But recent experience also indicates that oral intake of baking soda has anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting effects.

External Use

In alkaline baths, it helps remove acids through the skin. Externally, baking soda is used for itching, eczema, insect bites, or skin inflammations.

Further Applications

It is an ingredient in homemade deodorants, as it inhibits bacterial growth, and in homemade toothpaste, where it acts as an odor and acid regulator. In emergency medicine, baking soda is administered intravenously for metabolic acidosis. For a sore throat, a gargle made from baking soda and water can help. Simply dip a wet toothbrush into baking soda, thoroughly brush your tongue, and then rinse your mouth with a baking soda and water solution – this will combat bad breath.

Instructions for Use

In the morning, about 30 minutes before breakfast, add ½–1 teaspoon of baking soda to a cup, pour in 250 ml of warm water, and drink the mixture. Wait 10 minutes, then add lemon juice to a glass of cold water and drink it.
